The Cupcake Princess napped in the comfort of the guest room comfortably, that is until she woke up, surprised to know that she did fall fast asleep and the note from the Duke of Hamburgers. She blushed slightly and put the note aside, and gazing out the window she noticed that darkness consumed the sky. It was nightfall. Quick, she sprung from the bed and slipped back on her slipper flats, retouched her hair in the mirror, before trying to search for someone to give her some form of transportation. Never had she been without her kingdom for so long, and she feared that the Cupcake Kingdom was not faring well without her either.
The butler came in as he looked at the PRincess, “Oh, I suppose you would be needing a carriadge ride back to your kingdom? The Duke said you would need one and has left you some cupcakes and warm milk for your trip back. Unfortunately today the Duke is practicing his jousting, he will not be able to see you off.”
“Actually, yes,” Cupcake Princess nodded, “I do need a ride back to my kingdom... tell him it’s sweet of him to get me fresh cupcakes and milk... but if he’s unavailable at the moment, do you think if I converse with the prince he’d be able to arrange something for me?” She cutely pouted. “Or is he too busy for me, too?”
The butler thought for a second, “I suppose he could have a guest, come this way,” The butler led The Princess to an outdoor ring with a few dulled candy cane lances. The Duke was riding on a horse as he practiced his jousting.
The Princess watched in nervousness, as she never seen someone try to do such noble feats before. She grabbed the fresh cupcake and warm milk and began to eat it as she watched the Duke with a blush on her face. “What do you call those creatures?” asked the Princess to the butler, fascinated by the four-legged mammal. “And do they come in pink? Eh, this ground is so filthy...” And already, a bit of dirt was staining the hem of her puffy dress.
The Duke stopped for a second as he looked at the princess, “Why, this animal is called a horse,” He said, “And yes they do come in pink,” He smiled, “But this is the stable after all,” He said, “You should see it when it’
s rainy out,” He said, “This place is covered in mud,” He looked at the Princess, “Ah good, you found the cupcakes and milk I left for you,” He said and got off his horse before walking to her, “Did you like them?”
“Um, well, they are delicious,” thought Cupcake aloud, rubbing at her hips. “But I was hoping you might be able to provide me with transportation accommodations... I have to return to the Cupcake Kingdom... the maidens will be upset with me seeing how much I weight I gained from this evening alone...” she jiggled her belly slightly over the fabric of her dress. “Do you think you could do that for me?” The Cupcake Princess knew if she had returned back to the castle, the chances of her ever meeting with the Duke again were slim to none - but she always seemed to put her duty for the people ahead of her own.
The Duke nodded, “Of course I was planning on your returning home soon,” He smiled, “Will I see you at the festival?” He asked her, “I hope so,” He said as he watched her belly jiggle, “Do you wish for me to accompany you home?”
“Please...” she smiled. “It’d make going back to the palace more comfortable, the very least. But of course, you’ll see me at the festival, that’s not something I could ever bear to miss...” She took the Duke by the hand, expectant for him to lead her back to the carriages.
The Duke gave another crimson blush as he led the rotund princess to the carriage. He helped her inside as the two sat in front of one another as the carriage began to walk off. The Duke looked into the Princess’s eyes as he gave a warm smile, “Princess...I have something I’ve been meaning to tell you...”
The Princess had been lost in a daze, staring out of the window as the world of the Fast Food Kingdom passed by in a zipping blur for what felt like ages. She turned to face the Duke, her hands remaining to be tucked in her lap, and smiled back at him. “Hi,” Cupcake smiled, tucking her hand behind her ear. “Now what on earth could that be? It won’t be soon before we’ll reach my kingdom...”
A blush was on the Duke’s face as he took the Princess’s hands, “Remember how I said I’ve had trouble finding a suitor?” He said, “Well, I think I found one,” He smiled, “She’s right here in front of me,” He said, “I...I love you.”
Cupcake was not sure how on earth to respond, so she simply shyly turned her head and took Duke by the hands. “I... really like you too,” said Cupcake. Though she did not admit to loving him. “But... Duke, I hardly know you... and you do not know anything about me... I can only marry or be with someone in my kingdom... I thought even you knew that... I think you just like the girl you see on the outside - even you said Fast Food people love big people - and what I appear to be and not for what I really am... it’s kind of silly even thinking that we could be together,” she giggled. “I’m the princess, Duke, and you’re just, well... you’re just a duke...”
The Duke’s eyes saddened a little, “But love should happen because the two people love each other. Not because they’re the same status or of the same kingdom,” He said, “And honestly, I might like the girl on the outside right now. However, I want to get to know the girl that’s underneath,” he said, “I’m sure you’re one of the nicest and sweetest people I’d ever know,” he said, “I don’t care what my king or what anyone else thinks Princess. I think that we would do well together,” He said, “I just...” he sighed, “I just need one chance.”
The princess looked down, bitterly. “I must follow the rules of my people, Duke,” she looked at him. The cupcake princess was fervent in her response, and there was not a drop of doubt in her tone. “While I’d love to get to know you better, we cannot be together-- it’s just not how it worked and I know I’m not an exception to the kingdom laws, even if I am the princess...”
The carriage slowly pulled onto the Cupcake Kingdom castle lot, and came to a sudden stop. The horses pulling the carriage neighed abruptly in response, and the maidens willfully lifted up Cupcake Princess from the carriage.
The Duke sighed, “Very well Princess,” He said and looked down, “I just hope one day you can learn to have some fun yourself,” He said, “Good bye my love,” He said as the carriage was wheeled off. He took a second to cry however another carriage came pulling up to the Cupcake Castle. Out of it stepped a tall fat boy with mayonnaise white hair and mustard colored eyes. He was dressed in an even more royal attire. Trumpets proclaimed his arrival.
“Hello!” The man trumpeted as if to make himself appear tougher, “Where is the Cupcake Princess?”
The maidens finally set Cupcake Princess to the ground, and urged her to face the man. Cupcake observed him with a growing apprehension in her chest and sighed lightly, dusting off her dress from its dirt. “Hello... I’m Cupcake Princess, might I ask who you are?” Cupcake noticed he was in royal attire, but it wasn’t of her kingdom.
The Prince smiled, “You are in the company of the Prince of Fast Food and I have come to make you my bride!” He exclaimed, “Oh and I believe your court recently passed a law allowing the marriage of two people from different kingdoms,” He said knowing full well that he’d bribed some of the Cupcake Kingdom members into making the law. Who knew they’d be weak to fast food. He smirked and held out his hand, “Now shall we go?”
But Cupcake Princess was appalled by the very thought. The fact that the Duke had said he loved her struck a chord with the Princess, but the fact that the Prince of Fast Food was now demanding to be her bride... was a little much for her to take in. “I - I don’t have to do this,” she whispered, backing away from him slowly. “But I don’t want to marry you! I do not know you... why would you even want to marry me?”
“Oh now, don’t be modest,” one of the maidens smiled. “Everyone knows that Fast Food men love their women plump - and you’re the most beautiful woman in all the land, and one of the most luxurious royals have come to ask for your hand in marriage and you refuse?”
The Prince smirked, “Yes, I mean do you really have a choice? Its either you marry me or I’ll find a way to make the Cupcake kingdom the laughing stock of the century,” He smiled as he held out his hand, “I’m not a bad guy once you get to know me,” He smirked, “I’m a much better person than that stupid duke,” He grinned, “A Duke wanting to marry a princess?” He laughed, “He should know his place!”
The Cupcake Princess blushed fiery red... of course, she did not want to marry this strange man but even Cupcake knew the Prince possessed the power to damage the reputation of her own kingdom. “I’m sorry,” she whispered, brushing some of the hair from her eyes. “As long as you don’t do anything to my kingdom, then I... accept.”
The Prince smiled as he gave an outstretched hand, “Then come with me to the castle!” He smirked, he now had everything he wanted and in usual fashion he got it the easy way. Thank god the Duke wasn’t here to spoil anything. Now the Prince was beaming ever so happily as he took her back to the palace. When they got there there was a huge crowd around a five hundred pound man with long bright red hair,
“Son,” The man said, “It seems you have some competition,” The man said.
“Father!?” He exclaimed, “How could you let these men disgrace the halls of our palace?”
His father shrugged, “Too many people want the Cupcake Princess for their bride. I’m afraid we’re going to have to put her as a prize in the Festival jousting tournament.”
“You can’t do that!” The Prince growled as he stomped his foot, “That’s not fair!”
The King shrugged, “Such is the will of King Ronald, who so ever wins the jousting tournament at the Five Kingdoms festival shall have the Princess as their bride!”
Everyone gave a cheer before scattering as the Prince looked at the Princess, “If you excuse me, I’m going to prepare,” He said as he left off in a huff.
The King sighed as he looked at the princess, “There is someone waiting for you in your room for the night,” Ronald said, “I’m sorry it had to come to this.”
Cupcake was prepared to cry, and was ashamed she had to reduce herself to tears in the large crowd. “But I don’t want to get married,” she sobbed, “please, I did not want this to happen... your son manipulated me into coming here and being his bride... this isn’t something I want! I am not an object, and I hardly even know any of the men fighting for my hand... I’m not even that attractive to be fought over!” Cupcake blushed deeply, and began to cry in front of all the people and ran off - or in this case, waddled at a quickened pace - to the guest room, sobbing loudly.
She heard a comforting voice when she got into the guest room as she found a man stroking her hair, ‘It’ll be okay Cupcake,” The Duke said, “You can cry on me all you want,” He said and looked down, “Seeing as it is my fault. If I didn’t fall in love with you the Prince would have never found out about you,” He said as he held her hand. Expecting her to yell at him. All he could do was hug her and close his eyes as a tear ran down his cheek.
If anything, Cupcake just wanted comfort, so she hugged tightly onto the Duke, eyes still full of tears. “I don’t want people to fight for my hand,” she whispered, “they’re treating me like I’m an object... especially the Prince, he seems to like only what he sees on the outside... I know I must find a suitor eventually but... I don’t want it now... not when I’m getting all fat and stuffs...”
The Duke hugged her back, “I have a plan,” He said, “But I have to win the tournament,” He said as he began to stroke her belly, “Trust me,” He said, “Maybe it will work,” He continued, “But if I do get your hand in marriage I would want to wait...at least two or three months,” He said, “But the Hamburger line is dying,” He said, “I have no idea what to do...”
The Cupcake Princess sat upright on the bed and stared at him, curiously, brows raised. “Two to three months? You’re so silly...” She then laid down, and breathed in soft, cute little pants before looking up at the Duke with a smile. “You’ll have to have kids someday, too?” she asked. “I’m sure all lines die out eventually though... but I don’t know how Cupcakes and Hamburgers would work... the Prince seems to be with good intention but at least you have been nice to me... you want to get me more food?”
The Duke smiled as he opened a closet. It was filled with cupcakes in the shape of hamburgers. They even had some of the meat, cheese, and bread found on them. The Duke had a few dozen regular cupcakes and a huge cheeseburger. He first gave the Hamburger cupcakes to the Princess, “Taste it.”
So the Princess did, and her face broke out into a wide smile. “Give me more,” she smiled. “Wait, wait... maybe just a little more... if I’m going to be a bride... I should at least be small enough to fit into the dress, I suppose...” she huffed out a loud sigh. “Do you think you’d really win the tournament, too?” Cupcake then bit into the cupcake he offered, blushing slightly.
“So now do you think Hamburger and Cupcakes could make a nice pair?” He said as he kissed her on the cheek before nodding, “I can win the tournament,” He said, “But I will only give you as much food as you want,” with that he got more hamburger cupcakes and gave them to her.
“Hum, okay,” said the Princess with a slight smile. “I think cupcakes and hamburgers taste delicious together... but these cupcakes need more vanilla drops and sweetness, and maybe a little less meat here and there...” The Princess, as usual, was highly picky when it came to cupcakes but she at least tried to enjoy them to the fullest for the Duke’s sake. “You know the Prince would be upset if he saw you were so close to me...” She stretched out of bed and walked to Duke, giggling, and turned to face him. “Why... why did you say you’re in love with me, Duke?”
The Duke blushed, “Because you’re one of the nicest and sweetest people whom has ever graced my presence,” He said, “You haven’t judged me for being skinny either and you just,” He sighed, “You just feel like a good match to me,” He said, “Plus you and I share the same opinion that its whats on the inside that counts,” He said as he poked her belly, “And beneath all this fat is a heart of gold,” He said as he got even more Hamcups.
Cupcake Princess giggled from having her belly poked by the Duke. “You’re just being too sweet,” said Cupcake, “there’s no reason for me to judge you for being skinny... like you haven’t judged me for getting fat... or my pink hair... or the fact that I love cupcakes so much...” Cupcake Princess then let out a loud yawn and smacked her lips. “I think I’m going to go to sleep now though, and stay here for the night... want to help me take off my dress? Don’t try anything stupid, I just need help... it’s a little tight on me...”
The Duke nodded as he blushed madly, “Sure,” He said as he helped get the princess out of her dress. He tried to cover his eyes as he looked away, “Shall I see you in the morning love?”
“In the morning,” Cupcake Princess whispered, tucking herself beneath the covers and soon falling fast asleep.
